Myself and my husband (EEK!) returned from the most amazing honeymoon a little over 4 weeks ago now. We visited the Niyana, Maldives for a week followed by a 5 night stay in Dubai. Once returned, honeymoon blues in tow I knew I just had to share our experiences with you. Stay on the look out for Part two where I will share our stay in The Atlantis, Dubai.

Travel
If you're a nervous flyer then you might want to brace yourself. The Maldives is off the coast of Sri Lanka. You're talking a 7 hour flight to Dubai followed by another 4 hour flight to the Maldives and then an hour long journey via seaplane-which is an experience in it's self!
Rooms
We chose to stay in a Water Studio, complete with our very own pool. Described as an Ocean slumber with steps to the lagoon-a sparkling palette of blues! Greeted by champagne flutes, your villa is a private world to explore. Expanse beyond, where ivory sails catch the breeze. Crisp white furnishings and splashes of aqua inside and out. Sink into a deep bathtub overlooking the turquoise ocean, yours to explore at your own pace. Staying in a studio above the ocean was the best decision we ever made! Awaking to the sound of the ocean lapping gently against the white sand of the shore was pure heaven, not to mention the panoramic sunrise to sunset views.
Food
If you do get to experience the Niyama then you have to dine in at the Subsix. Described as "an under water playground" you'd be mad not to experience champagne six metres underwater! If dinning above the Indian Ocean isn't your cup of tea your mad the Niyama also boasts 8 themed restaurants serving everything from African cuisine campfire dinning at Tribal to Nest which offers gourmet wonderland of Asian specialties sat in the multi-level treehouse design. Spoilt for choice is an understatement!
Weather
I've been asked this question frequently. "What was the weather like?" The weather was beautiful. The wet season in the Maldives is from May-October, despite visiting in June we were extremely lucky to experience a week long stay of gorgeous weather regularly tipping 33 degrees. November-April is dry season so if its guaranteed weather you are after I'd advise visiting between those months. (The Maldives is crazy expensive so if you are flexible with your dates I'd recommend comparing the month before and after you'd like to go, you'd be surprised how much you are able to save. The saving could be the difference between a Water Studio or Beach Studio.
Overall if you are thinking of visiting the Maldives it is a once in a lifetime holiday. So "Instagrammable" it doesn't even need a filter! If you are thinking of visiting the Niyama or you've holiday'ed there before then please let me know, I'd love to hear about your experience!
