Layers, Lots and lots of layers. London Fashion Week day 2 was absolutely freezing, To say my feet had frostbite was an incredible understatement. Saturday saw a mix of textures and autumnal colour-ways from me, starting off my day at Jasper Conran was a lovely way to start my weekend. If only I could that that every weekend..
Originally I wanted to wear this chic two piece from Warehouse, coatless. Come Saturday morning this was so not an option. The longline sleeveless blazer and skinny flared trousers were the perfect partner together layered underneath a burgandy roll neck jumper (belted as usual.) The weather was bitter to say the least so I just had to pop that amazing leather coat on my shoulders to complete the look. So 70's!
As day one of London Fashion Week draws to a close, I sit here with my feet (finally) up and type this from my cosy hotel room. I'm staying in the Hub by Premier Inn for the during of my stay situated in the heart of Covent Garden, it's in the most perfect location for Fashion Week as it's only a meer 10 minute walk. But lets face it, I won't be walking anywhere!
70's is a mahussive trend for this season, so what better than to rock a double denim flared look for day 1? ThisAsospanelled denim coat comes in an array of styles; from a longline coat to a cropped jacket and even a shift dress. The coat stood out to me the most as we all know I like my length when it comes to outerwear. These Victoria Beckham jeans are the perfect accompaniment (once rolled up to fit my 5"3 frame!) to pull of a double denim look, which I've broken up with my beloved black polo neck.
What do you think? The fur stole adds a hint of texture finishing this look of perfectly!
London Fashion Week, how quickly has this season come around? It feels like only last week I was sweating to death in a knitted roll neck and over the knee boots, in 30 degree heat. Not to say I didn't enjoy last season! Layers are my favourite and you're guaranteed to see a lot of it come Friday.
Above I have popped together a couple of my essentials that I cannot live without come Fashion week season. Not to say I'm a pro when it comes to attending, but for all you beginners looking to attend your first show or take in the atmosphere of Sommerset House, this is for you.
Buisness Cards: If you're going to take anything to fashion week make sure it's your business cards. I don't feel very professional typing my name/blog/handles into someones iPhone because I foolishly forgot to pack my business cards. It is the easiest way for someone to remember you and your blog, and if you do get snapped by any photographers make sure you hand them out because you never know who they might work for!
Technology:Whether it's your laptop, iPad, or iPhone this is key for me as I love to interact over social media. I'm either uploading my outfits from each day to Instagram, tweeting about the latest street style that's caught my eye or generally just being unsociable..
DSLR: I have to admit, I don't like carrying around my DSLR. Especially when I want to carry a minuscule clutch bag that totally goes with my outfit. But, us bloggers have to capture our outfits one way or another and my Nikon always gives me the best results as apose to my iPhone.
Portable Charger:Because how many times has your phone turned off mid-Instagram post? Believe me I would 100% recommend investing in a portable charger. There is a minimal amount of plug sockets around the venue to pop your phone into, and we don't want to spend all day watching that battery fill up! This one here is cute!
Notebook:Not essential, but if you are fortunate enough to attend any shows whether it be at the BFC showspace or fashion scout, I like to take a couple of notes of the key trends, colours, any pieces in particular I loved for any future blog posts.
Tickets: Again, not essential either. I've attended seasons in the past without any tickets and still had the best time. Fashion Week isn't always about sitting front row and taking in the latest catwalk fashion, I love catching up with other bloggers that I don't always get to see, meeting other bloggers I look up to and generally being social. But if you do happen to get a couple of tickets make sure these are the first thing you pack because we do not want to forget those.
Flats:Just trust me. Temple and Holborn station are at least a 10 minute walk and I'm not into blisters.
Suede. Suede, Suede, Suede. There's something about the texture, the array of colours and not to mention how massive the trend is for this season. I'd be head to toe if 1. I could pull it off, and 2. If I could afford to be dressed head to toe in suede. I picked up this grey suede jacket at my Warehouse store appointment last week. I can't wait to show you what else I picked up!
This jacket is a great way to baby step into the trend as its mearly a biker jacket, making it a staple if you are to purchase the trend this season.
I popped into Mango this week and picked up these uhmazingleather loafers. I sadly missed out on the Celine loafers just before Christmas and these are a dead cert if I've ever seen one and 60 is just a fraction of the price of a real pair. Not too sure if you'll wear them much in this weather? Not to worry, pop on a pair of ankle socks and you'll be away!
Images Salon, London. (The place where beauty dreams are made!) I know primarily I'm not a beauty blogger and will never claim to be one, but when it comes to the bare necessities we've all got a favourite hair dresser, hair style or salon we love to pay a visit.
I paid Images London in Fulham a visit last month to try out a couple of treatments and check out their beautiful salon. It was unlike any I've ever been to before, so modern and up to date. (The images really don't do the place any justice!) Once greeted with a cup of tea the girls got to work prepping my nails for a gel manicure, the idea is something I've toyed with for a while. I get married in 3 months now and I'm desperate to avoid a painted manicure that's going to chip in seconds of me walking down the isle. Acrylics are out of the question too after playing around with them for the past 5 years. Sorry nails.
After opting for a nude (typical me..) I was pleasantly surprised with how easy the process was, not to mention how amazing it made my short little nails look. Below is how they are looking after three weeks, It's safe to say I'm a gel convert!
We've got just over a week until London Fashion Week commences. Hands up who's organised? Nope, me either! I've got a couple of exciting store appointments this week to hopefully sort out my non-existent Fashion Week wardrobe. (Because who's ever statisfied with the clothes we already own?) Head over to my Instagram @HannahCrosskey to keep up to date with my fashion week rush!
I love everything about this look, naturally. What's more easy than chucking on layers apon layers of your favourite knitwear and running around in chic black trainers. (Yes trainers have now become chic.) If your a major fan of Celine on a Primark budget I've found the perfect trio shoulder bag for you here. It is the perfect size for all your essentials, plus it comes in three different colours. Bonus!
Shopping for your Valentine is extremely tricky, especially when Christmas was only a couple of months ago. When the majority of us picked up some savvy discounted picks in the post-Christmas sales, what else would we like to receive? Above I've popped together 10 picks you simple cannot get wrong this Valentines day; from a glorious scented diptyque candle to a pair of staple heeled sandals, a simple black jumpsuit to a gold plated watch.
P.S all the above items are shoppable! Online shopping made easy.
Sun, style, swimwear. What more could you ask for? An email pinged into my inbox last week from the lovely girls at Label PR, "Would you be interested in entering a compeition to win the chance to style a swimwear photo shoot in 5* luxury.. in Egypt!?" The Subject read. Er yes please! All you have to do to enter is simply tell Swimwear365 how you would style and photograph a swimwear shoot on Soma Bay, Egypt.
Above I've chosen a quiet spot on the beach lit up by the evening sunset. Accompanying me is this gorgeous cut out swimsuit which I'd pair with a longline maxi featuring monochrome details to tie in the colour of the half tint sunglasses. I've highlighted the gold detailing in the kaftan with a pair of gold strappy sandals and stacked rings to pull this look together.
My second choice is the gorgeous porcelain indoor pool and spa, decorated beautifully with an array of mosaic tiles. Total relaxation is the route I've chosen for this shoot. I've taken the blue colours from the spa and chosen an amazing white longline kaftan with blue embroidered details which compliments the print in the beach bag. Laying my head on a neatly rolled beach towel reading my "how to be parisian" book in my white halter neck bikini. What more could you want?
Ever since we moved into our new home late last year I have been besotted with homeware. There is nothing I love more than trailing pages of scented candles, monogrammed mugs and all things white! So when an email from Anthropologie (eee!) dropped into my inbox introducing their new secret valentine campaign my immediate reaction was "er hell yes."
Anthropologie have teamed up with selected bloggers to gift each other for under 50 in the name of Valentines day. I can't say who I was given, but she is very partial to a furry creature or two. Head over to my Instagram on Februrary 14th to see which gift I received, I'd be truly exstactic with practily everythinganything from the Anthropologie store as I adore the site.
Above I have popped together my favourite valentines picks, along with the famous "How to be parisian" book, the monogrammed mug and the cute little heart battery pack I picked for my selected blogger. I hope she approves, I definitely would!
What I love about dressing down is the ease and comfort. Effortless is so chic and simple to pull off! Pull on a roll neck knit and step into a pair of wide leg trousers and you've nailed one of the biggest trends. Oversized is here to stay!
What do you think of this look? I know its very stereotypical of my style at the moment, but whats not to love? These trousers are so versatile, pop on a pair of Stan Smiths to run errands during the day or slide into a pair of heeled mules for a sophisticated evening look!
